Lesson 160 – Shoulder Sway

Sways can be measured in the Upper Body and Lower Body, mostly referring to Shoulder Sway and Hip Sway respectively. When lower body sway is an issue, Low Point Contact can be very inconsistent. On top of that, Hip Sway can lead to either the shoulders swaying along with the hips (off the ball) or the shoulders can lean towards target, creating a reverse pivot.
In this case, there is little to no Hip Sway, but you can see with the angles drawn there is some Shoulder Sway pulling you off the ball. Shoulder Sway tends to have the biggest impact on Angle of Attack. More shoulder sway back, more upward Angle of Attack, generally.
You can reduce Shoulder Sway with more Shoulder Rotation, and Shoulder Tilt down. This can keep the Upper Body more centered, and improve downward AoA with irons, and bring a more consistent Low Point.
